Greece Eco – An Environmental Journey in Greece
Brief Intro:
Nature, Sustainability & culture immersions
Greece is more than ancient ruins and island sunsets. It is a living classroom where nature, culture, and sustainability come together.
This environmental journey is designed for students who want to explore beyond the textbook — combining ecological awareness, cultural immersion, and hands-on experiences across mainland Greece and the Saronic Gulf.
From the biodiversity of Mount Parnitha to the marine ecosystems of Poros and the rescue work of ARCHELON, students engage directly with real environmental challenges while discovering the authentic rhythm of Greek life.
Highlights:
- Explore Ancient Athens: Visit the Acropolis and learn Greek through a fun class.
- Discover Mount Parnitha: Explore one of Attica’s most important natural reserves, with rich biodiversity, scenic trails, and opportunities to learn about environmental protection.
- Experience Poros Island: Enjoy crystal-clear waters, traditional architecture, and authentic island life while discovering local culture and coastal landscapes.
- Cultural Immersion: Participate in optional activities like cooking classes and Greek dancing.
- Environmental Consciousness: Explore marine and forest environments, learning about invasive fish species, biodiversity, and human–nature interaction through expert guidance, hands-on cooking, and outdoor games.
- Farewell in Athens: Enjoy a farewell dinner and last-minute sightseeing or shopping.
Program Philosophy:
At Student Trips Greece, we believe education happens through experience.

Students don’t just visit Greece — they interact with it responsibly.
Educational Outcomes:
- Develop ecological responsibility and environmental literacy
- Understand human–nature interaction in forest and marine ecosystems
- Explore sustainability through gastronomy and local practices
- Strengthen teamwork through outdoor experiential activities
- Build intercultural awareness through authentic local interaction
Day by Day Program:
Day 1: Welcome to Athens – The Heart of Ancient Greece
Arrive in Athens and settle into your accommodation, getting ready to explore the vibrant capital of Greece. Enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant, sampling traditional Greek dishes like moussaka, souvlaki, and baklava.
Day 2: Discovering the Wonders of Athens
The Ancient Wonders of the Acropolis
Explore the ancient wonders of the Acropolis, including the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike. Learn about the history and significance of these iconic structures.
Afternoon Activities
In the afternoon, participate in a fun and interactive Greek language class to learn basic phrases and enhance your cultural experience.
Free Time Exploration
During your free time, explore the bustling streets of Plaka, visit the National Archaeological Museum, or relax in one of the city’s many parks. You may also join optional activities such as a cooking class or Greek folk dancing.
Day 3: Mount Parnitha – Treasure Hunt & Orienteering
The treasure hunt takes place in Mount Parnitha National Park, at an altitude of 1,413 meters. Participants are trained to use a compass while exploring the natural landscape in a unique, engaging way.
Encourage your team, get your compass and map, and use the information provided to help you find the hidden treasure! Through playful group activities and fun puzzles, you will learn about the “king of the forest” — the Cephalonian fir — and discover local fauna, with the red deer naturally leading.
Focusing on Parnitha’s forest ecosystem, including biodiversity and human–nature interaction, this day fosters ecological awareness through conservation learning, habitat protection, and responsible visitation.
Day 4 & 5: Marine Ecosystem / Invasive Species Workshop & Poros Island
Marine Ecosystem / Invasive Species Workshop
A specialist will inform participants about the impact of invasive species on the marine ecosystem and local fishing. Students then take part in a hands-on cooking activity, preparing and consuming these fish.
In this way, education is combined with sustainability and the practical addressing of an environmental problem through local gastronomy.
Poros Island
This charming Greek island in the Saronic Gulf is just one hour from Athens. With its colorful harbor, green landscapes, and vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, Poros offers the perfect balance between exploration and leisure.
Stroll through picturesque alleys with an ice cream in hand, swim at beautiful beaches, and taste local delicacies.
Day 6: Athens – Glyfada – Visit to the ARCHELON Rescue Center
The Athenian Riviera offers a magical seaside route. In Glyfada, meet the specialized staff of ARCHELON — a non-profit association dedicated to the study and protection of sea turtles and their habitats in Greece.
Students receive information about sea turtles, rescue, care, and protection on nesting beaches. Approximately 70 injured or sick sea turtles arrive at the Rescue Center each year, having been rescued in Greek seas. At the facilities, turtles receive medical care and rehabilitation, and their return to the sea is organized.
Day 7: Nafplio Bio Farm & Nafplio City
The NafplioBioFarms experience includes a guided visit to an organic farm where oranges, olives, and vegetables are cultivated. During the tour, students learn the sustainable techniques used to bring high-quality organic products to the table.
A hands-on cooking lesson follows in a dedicated cooking lab before sitting down to enjoy what was created, such as:
- Fresh lemon juice from the farm
- Orange-based cookies (with olive oil and organic flour)
- Traditional pancakes with honey
- Bread with bio-organic flour, olives, and olive oil from the farm
Later, explore Nafplio starting from the medieval Old Town with narrow cobblestone alleys, neoclassical mansions with bougainvillea, and historic fountains. Those who wish can climb the 999 steps carved into the rock to enjoy breathtaking views from Palamidi Castle.
Day 8: Farewell Athens
Once back in the capital, enjoy some last-minute shopping or sightseeing. Celebrate the end of your trip with a farewell dinner, sharing memories and experiences with your group.
Day 9: Departure – Until We Meet Again
Depart from Athens, taking with you unforgettable memories of your Greek adventure.
